Orientation for Class 10th- Batch of 2022-23

An institution that believes in continually meeting up with CHANGE, Manovikas inspires it bourgeoning learners to be innovators and creators; ignites their imagination and curiosity and above all, instils a culture of hands-on learning and education as an entirety.
An Orientation programme was held on 18th January 2023 for the parents of Class 10th in the Auditorium at 9:00am. A good number of interested parents were present to appreciate, and enhance their child’s future learning and growing. The session took-off with our Chairman Mr. Jose Manuel Noronha addressing the parents on various career options widely available to choose from than the traditional choices one tends to make. He encouraged parents to allow their child to choose careers freely without imposing their restrictive ideas and philosophies.
He gave examples and shared experiences of being a parent and his interactions with a varied class of candidates whom he interviews as a Chair of the Goa Public
Service Commission. The session proceeded with our Principal Mrs. Maria Norman who briefed the parents on the upcoming ICSE Board Examination. She informed about the rules and regulations and the basic requirement of maintaining the admit card, the required stationery, the attendance, punctuality and discipline essential for the smooth functioning of the exam.
Through a presentation the Principal then offered an insight into the ISC section of our school. She shared her experience as a parent of ISC giving an overall view of choosing ISC Board over others and the benefit it holds for students in the future. The presentation highlighted on the following points:
a) The facilities available at the new ISC block at Manovikas, including the laboratory upgradations as per subject requirement.
b) Introduction of the ISC faculty for each subject with their qualifications, subject expertise and teaching experience.
c) A brief outline of subject choices was provided to parents for the main streams that is, Humanities, Science and Commerce. Inclusion of Liberal Arts through NEP 2020 in the curriculum was emphasised on.

d) Further, Career Opportunities was discussed in detail so that the parents have an immense idea on the options the combination of subjects offered at Manovikas would offer their child in the long run. Lastly, the Principal educated and directed the parents on the admission procedure, the fee break-up and availability of the prospectus to parents that will begin from the 1st of February 2023. Our Principal took time to address the queries put-forth by some concerned parents.
This session was then followed by the ISC students taking over the dais. A few students of the current batch of ISC – Class IXth presented their views and experience of taking up ISC at Manovikas. They spoke of their subject teachers, the teaching techniques used by the teachers to make the concepts clear and teaching more effective connecting to the future requirement in the field chosen. The students shared their experience on class-room learning through the use of audio-visual aids and having a healthy interactive learning environment with the teachers. They cited and stressed on learning exposure received by them through out-door activities, field-trips, nature-walks, interactions with guest-lectures and subject-experts, media and use of technology to gain hands-on experience via projects and assignments. The students who joined ISC Manovikas from other boards shared their experience for taking up ISC, the learning exposure and confidence it provides them to secure a better career and a better future.
The Orientation ended at 10:30am by the vice-principal thanking the parents for making time to attend and for taking interest in their child’s future educational concern and requirement.
