History

School Uniform

Manovikas implies Mann KaVikas (development of mind) and this has always been the central idea of the school.

Established in the year 1968, Manovikas School is amongst the most prestigious schools in Goa. Throughout its glorious history of half-a-century, the school has provided the guidance, tools and environment to help thousands of students identify and nurture individual talents and grow up to become caring, responsible and contributing citizens.

Manovikas implies ‘Mann ka Vikas’ (development of the mind), and this has always been the central idea behind the functioning of the school.

In the past 50 years, the school has grown from a single class in a rented house with only two teachers to over 1953 students, 93 teaching staff, 34 support staff and a sprawling campus measuring 35,000 sqm.

Founders

The institution was founded by a group of like-minded visionaries who felt the need for introducing quality education based on innovation, free-thinking and experiential learning in the State of Goa.

Mrs. Maya Lin Noronha

Maya Lin Noronha the Director of Manovikas English Medium School was a student, former teacher and parent of the school.
A seasoned educator, Maya Lin Noronha has a 38-year career in the education field. She has and continues to serve well-reputed institutions during this time. She started her teaching career in 1987 at Manovikas for a period of 2 years and then taught again at Manovikas from 2000-2010 as a pre-primary teacher.
Mrs. Noronha also specialises and holds a Masters’s degree from Goa University with Grade O in Counselling Psychology and is a Life Member of the Counsellors Council of India. Along with that she has expertise in Psychological Counselling and volunteered for 4 years as a Counselling Psychologist at Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda
Was appointed for 2 and half years as a Counselling Psychologist at Carmel College, Nuvem.
Worked as a Counselling Psychologist at Don Bosco College of Engineering for a period of 7 years where she gave lectures in Soft Skills to all the semester students and was a member of several committees at the institutional and departmental level.
She presented a paper on “The Influence of the School Environment on the Adjustment and Mental Health of Students” at the 4th International Conference on Psychology and Allied Sciences.
She has completed several online Certifications through NPTEL, Funded by the Ministry of HRD, Govt of India and COURSERA Certification courses.
She is passionate about children, animals, singing, dancing and sports.

Mrs. Pallavi Buyao
Principal, PrimaryA Graduate in Chemistry; a Post-graduate in English Literature and a qualified Bachelor in Education has grown in Manovikas School as a teacher for 11 years; a section head for almost 2 years and from the last 5 years continues grooming and nurturing teachers and students.

Mrs. Brenda Bhandary
Principal, Pre-primaryA Psychology graduate and a qualified Montessori teacher, having groomed young students in her tenure of 17 years, eight years as a teacher, and since the past nine years in the capacity of a Co-ordinator, followed by Principal, in guiding teachers and steering the holistic development of the students at Manovikas.

Ideals & Goals

In line with our ideal and goal of providing children an environment free from fear and rote learning, we have a ‘no exam policy’ until Class 7. The school has a Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation until standard 7.

At Manovikas, we give students an opportunity to embrace innovation, excel in technology, celebrate cultural diversity, develop interpersonal skills and shine in sports and athletics. Our state-of-the-art infrastructure includes well-equipped labs, a Think Lab (with 3D Printer), well-stocked library, and large playgrounds and recreation spots where our students can develop physical and mental agility.

Manovikas offers a warm, comfortable and vibrant environment for kids with special needs. With social inclusion as the primary objective, our specially trained teachers and staff members offer a secure and interactive learning environment for the young ones with special needs.
