Independence Day – 15th August 2022

15th August, is a day marked in India’s history as a day to celebrate the country’s freedom from British rule. This year 15th August 2022 is celebrated as 75th Independence Day across India called as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” The entire nation was called to honour and show gratitude to our great leaders who fought for our freedom, so that we could enjoy liberty of thought and action today.

Manovikas English Medium School too came together as a whole to celebrate this day. The event began on a patriotic note, followed by the hoisting of the tri-colour by our Chairman Mr. Jose Manual Noronha. The National Anthem was sung with great fervor and pride by the entire gathering.

The cultural programme began with our Principal Mrs. Maria Norman’s address to the gathering. She spoke on how students make up the future of the country and urged them to take up responsibilities from a young age so they contribute positively to the nation’s development. A patriotic song ‘Jeet Hamari Hai’ composed by the music teacher Purba Sinharay was sung by the school choir. Through this rendition homage to the martyrs who laid their lives for our freedom.

The students of ICSE Batch 2021-22 were felicitated by the school and the PTA for securing 100% results. The students have made us proud beyond words. We Congratulate our students and wish them the very best for their future.

Our students of Class 10th Ishaan Naik and Hrishi Naik partipated in the AISM Debate Competition in the Junior Category at Mumbai in the CNVM Nanavati School on 5th August 2022. As a team both Ishaan and Hrishi secured the fifth place while Ishaan Naik won the third place as an individual speaker. Our principal Mrs. Maria Norman felicitated both our debaters with certificate and congratulated them on their outstanding performance.

A poster making competition was organized by Human Development Protection Society, New Delhi. The winners of this competition Abdul Rahiman, Sunchit Kamble and Aditya Raja were felicitated by Mrs. Khatija Khan, our special guest for the day and the President of the Society.

Poetry brings out all emotions necessary to make an occasion special. To India! … a poem in Konkani was recited by Tejas Shirvaikar.

Dance is art in motion. The students of Class VIII put up a energetic and colourful dance performance in celebration and to ignite in ourselves the spirit of freedom.

Manovikas band performance was greatly missed… but they are back with the same heart-warming, pulsating spirit. The Band put up an exhilarating performance which left the audience mesmerized and completed the celebration of the day on a very upbeat note.

The vote of thanks for the Independence Day celebration was delivered by Sydelle Countinho who thanked the gathering for being a part of the 75th celebration of India’s Independence Day at Manovikas School.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “The future depends on what we do in the present”. So let’s pledge to make ourselves conscious citizens who practice being creative, courageous and committed in all we do for our own well-being and that of our country India. Jai Hind!!!
