18 th June marks the uprising patriotism of goans 65 years ago against the Portuguese regime. To remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and spread awareness of the significance of this day, Manovikas English Medium School put up an assembly for classes 6th and 7th in the school hall at 8.30 a.m, following all COVID protocols. Our students from class VII B,  Rivia Raikar and Saisha Kamble anchored the event addressing the gathering with warm  greetings. Alayna (VII B) gave a wonderful speech to remind us of the importance of celebrating this day in Goan history. A PowerPoint presentation was screened to highlight it’s meaning. Tangish Naik (VI A) and Arna Raikar (VII A) showed their patriotism and great love for mothertongue, Konkani through their wonderfully performed monoacts.  Tr. Purba  along with her choir (students of class V) sang a melodious song, ‘Kranti Din’.  Ved Lotlikar ( VII B) recited a poem titled, ’18th June’ written by Dr. Manohar Rai Sardesai. The assembly ended with a documentary filming the great sacrifices of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and his journey to bring a change in Goa.

The objective behind the assembly was to  urge goans to maintain communal harmony, prosperity, unity and peace in our little state, Goa.
