GOA LIBERATION DAY – December 19, 2022
“Life without liberty is like a body without spirit.” Goa has seen immense struggle before being liberated from the colonising rule of the Portuguese. Therefore celebrating Goa Liberation day holds much importance since it validates the struggle of the residents that protested day and night in order to liberate Goa.
Manovikas school celebrated Goa Liberation Day on 19th December with great fervour and zeal. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the chairman of the school, Mr. Jose Manuel Noronha followed by the National Anthem.
Following to that, a song titled “Goem mhaje gaita” was sung by a group of students. A poem on Goa was recited by Shivansh Naik from class 4. Monoact on the freedom fighters of Goa was performed by Akriti Naik,Saachi Kunkolienkar and
Gargi Shirwaikar from class 4.
Manovikas school won the third place for the All Goa Konkani street play competition. The same street play titled ‘Mhargai’ was performed. The participants were awarded with trophies and certificates. A group of students from class 6 performed a Goan folk dance.The programme ended with the school anthem.
