Ganesh Chaturthi assembly

As the Hindu month of Bhadrapad usher in, the rains subside and marks the onset of festivities. Ganesh Chaturti is a festival celebrated by the Goan hindus, with traditional fervour and piety in the month of Bhadrapad. This festival brings happiness to one and all.
We at Manovikas, celebrate festivities with traditional fervour and pomp to imbibe values of secularism in young minds. It helps the young students to stay connected with their roots and culture.
Ganesh Chaturti, is celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour at school by students and staff of the primary and middle school.
 An entrancingly decorated alter with flowers and fairy lights, colloquially known as ‘MAKAR’ is placed in the school assembly hall. Idol of lord Ganesh is placed in the Makar. Colourful motifs and design called Rangoli is made on the floor around the Makar.  On the ceiling a wooden panel is fixed, locally described as “Matoli”, adorned with variety of local seasonal vegetables, fruits and festoons of Mango leaves. Students sing devotional songs and hymns, locally called Aarti with musical accompaniments.
After two despicable pandemic years, Manovikas family drew together to celebrate this festival of happiness and piety on August 25th, 2022, at 2:00pm in the school hall. This special assembly was organized by the students and staff of the Middle School.
The programme was hosted by Arshiya Deshpande and Aadit Borkar .
The celebration unfurled with a dance performance by students of std 6, choreographed by tr. Sheli.
Lezim, is a folk dance from the state of Maharashtra. Dancers carry small musical instruments with jingling cymbals called lezim, after which the dance form is named. The dance basically, is a fitness drill because it involves many calisthenic moves and can be quite strenuous. Class 7 boys under the guidance of Tr Sheli, presented this vigorous physical exercise and drill with ebullience.
Rajas Khandeparkar, shared insightful and enlightening information and legends of celebrating Ganesh Chaturti in Goa and its neighbouring states.
Tr Purba’s choir presented a devotional song. This was followed by an enriching and educative video portraying Chaturthi celebration in the rural areas of Goa.
The assembly concluded on a traditional note, by singing the Aarti, (hymns). The students and staff gathered, sought the blessings of lord Ganesh and retired home relishing the prasad distributed on the occasion.
