Battle of the Bands 2022

Battle of Bands Volume 3 was held on 20-10-2022. The Day began with the soundcheck at 6:45
am, followed by the commencement of the program at 9:10 a.m. The show was hosted by Xanelle
Lacerda, Jeannete Baptista, Samuel Dsouza and Shania Carvalho, students from the high school section. The Chief Guest and Judges for the event were- Vince Costa, Marwino Antonio DaCosta, Quinston Menezes, Savio Fernandes, Neil D’Cruz. Dignitaries in attendance were: Mrs.Maria Norman- Principal of Secondary and Higher Secondary School,Mrs.Maya Lin Noronha-Director,Mrs.Sheena Paula Costa-Administrator,Mrs.Julliet Ayyaswamy – Vice Principal,Mrs.Pallavi Buyao – Principal of Primary Section,Mrs.Brenda Bhandary-Principal of Pre-Primary,Mrs.Lavita Rodrigues-Coordinator of Middle School Section.The Chief Guest, Judges and other Dignitaries were welcomed with the Guard of Honour performed by the school Brass Band.

The Battle of Bands commenced with the Chief Guest’s address to the gathering and The competition was declared open by him. Every House handed over their Tech Riders and band profiles to the Judges before their performances.
Each House was given a set of guidelines to follow so that the program went smoothly:

Nakul House(Groovy Gramps) kickstarter the event with a collection of classic hits from Culture Club,Nina Simone and an original composed by Anika Kumar and Kiera Fernandes.
Arjun House(Arjun and the Chipmunks) featured a lot of Brass oriented arrangements led byKristoff and Megan featuring a tribute to Elvis and a mash of two famous bollywood songs.The original was composed by Arjun House prefect Kiera Faye Dias.
Bhim House(√Beat)brought in the fire with a lot of Lead Guitar shreds by Josiah Fernandes and head banging tracks to the stage.The variations in vocalists brought a lot of diversity to their setlists. The original was dedicated to the current 10th standard batch of 2022, composed by K.Alannah Sousa.

Karna House(Krazy K’s)featured a lot of mesmerising solos by the drummer Yoel Dcosta and bassist Rachael Ferrao.Sia was the tribute act sung by Maria Alvares for the blues. The original was composed by Rachael Ferrao.
The Battle of the Bands also featured 2 surprise performances by ex-students from batch 2019, and an impromptu jam-up session by the judges which pulled in everyone from the crowd together to dance and sing to the songs.
After all of the electrifying and power-packed performances, it was time to declare the final verdict. This volume of the Battle of Bands included 4 individual awards which were unanimously decided by the Chief Guest and Judges.

The categories and awards were presented by the dignitaries and were as follows:
• Best Performer – Josiah Fernandes
• Best Supporting Musician – Rachael Ferrao
• Best Band Manager – Saanvi Kamat
• Best Vocalist – Saloni UtagiThe main band awards presented by the Judges were as follows:
1. Arjun House
2. Bhim House
3. Karna House
4. Nakul House
In conclusion it was a well-balanced event, which left our audience and judges in awe of the talent
and potential displayed.
