AUTISM AWARENESS CELEBRATION 2022

In view of the Autism Awareness Day celebrated worldwide on the 2 nd of April, we the Special Educators of the Life Skills Resource Room, Academic Resource Room and the Counsellors organized a series of activities during the week from 28 th March to 4 th April 2022.
The Special Educators from the Life Skills Resource Room performed a play on “Different is Beautiful” for the PP Inters and Seniors to sensitize the children on respecting and accepting differences. The students from the Resource Room also danced to the song “This little light of mine.” All the students and teachers also joined in and danced.
The Counselors and Special Educators from the Academic Resource Room conducted a series of activities and competitions for the Primary, Middle and High School Sections.
Activities for the Primary Section included: Word Search and Crossword Puzzles, Coloring Activity, Story on “It’s Okay to be Different”, a movie “Taare Zameen Par” was also screened for the students.
Competitions were conducted for students from classes 5 th to 10 th . The competitions were:
Poster Making (5 th and 6 th ), Badge Making (7 th and 8 th ), Wealth Out of Waste (TLM making) (9 th and 10 th ). All students cooperated and did an excellent job in portraying the theme which was “Autism and Inclusion”.
The whole team of Special Educators and Counsellors also organized a Special Assembly keeping it in line with the theme of “Inclusion.” Our students from the Life Skills Resource Room performed a dance on the song “This little Light of Mine”, the Special Educators and Counselors also performed a short play that depicted “Inclusion”. Prizes for the competitions conducted were distributed on the stage by the Principal, Vice-Principal, Administrator and
coordinators. Finally, we had Anaida Fernandes (10A) and Rudransh Velip (7B) who did an exceptional job at reading a Speech and Poem to spread awareness on Autism and Inclusion. The school was lit up with awareness posters, balloons, along with teachers wearing the color “Blue” which is the theme color for Autism worldwide, to celebrate the occasion.
It was indeed a very eventful and fruitful week.
