52nd Annual Sports Meet for the academic year 2022-2023

Manovikas Pre-primary and Primary section conducted the 52nd Annual sports day with great delight
and traditional fervour, after two unfortunate years of pandemic on the December15th 2022 at Raia
Panchayat Ground.
Ms Michel Margaret Castanha, senior women’s Indian National Football team player, graced the
occasion as the Chief guest. To get the show on the road, the chief guest escorted by the Director Mrs
Mayalin Noronha, Principals of pre -primary Mrs Brenda Bhandary and Primary Mrs Pallavi Buyao,
was accorded a guard of honour. The honourable Chief guest Ms Castanha unfurled the Sports flag.
As a mark of respect and appreciation for gracing the sports day with her presence, Ms Castanha was
presented with a potted plant and a memento by Miss Prishika Nair, a student of class 1.
The Sports day, commenced with the March Past, a dominant feature of our sports day celebration.
Students of class 2 ,3 and 4 participated zestfully in this convivial procession and marched with pride
to the tunes of our school band, “The Brass Revolution”. The March past was led by commander
Shivansh Naik, a student of class 4.
Manovikas has been a patron of sports since its inception. Young students are encouraged to choose
a sport of their choice. With consistent practice and determination, the young budding stars sharpen
their skills and gain proficiency in the sport. They participate at events held at District, State and
Nationals and win accolades, making the school proud of their achievements.
As a mark of honour and acknowledgement of their accomplishments, these sports stars partake in
the symbolic lighting of the torch, thus acclaiming their tryst with success and spread the true essence
of sportsmanship. The torch relay began with the handing over of the symbolic torch, by the
honourable Chief Guest to Master Renan Raikar, our notable Senior Badminton player, who led the
troop of our budding sports stars of the primary section. The Chief Guest released the Helium Balloons
of Harmony and declared the sports meet open.
Tr Ojvi Coutinho, formally introduced the chief guest to the august gathering. The distinguished guest
addressed the gathering and the petite sportsman of the pre-primary and primary section with words
of encouragement and inspired them to strive hard to overcome all obstacles to emerge winners in
various upcoming events.
The Gala event, set rolling with an impressive performance, twist to the Zumba beat, presented by
students of pp senior, who mesmerized one and all with their rhythmic grooves and vibrant attire.
It was exhilarating, to see the toddlers of pre-primary perform their drills to the best of their abilities
and the finalist participate in their races with enthusiasm, true sportsman spirit and emerge winners.
Students of grade 1, 2, 3 and 4 enthralled the audience with their flawless drill performances. This
impeccable performance was made possible, due to the painstaking efforts of ours class teachers and
sports teachers.
Class 1 and 2 performed their drills to perfection, clap to the Santa’s gloves and the dumb bell drill.
The highlight of the sports day drill events and showstoppers were the Zumba drill by class 3 and drill
presented by std 4 with florescent orange and green jerseys.
The final heats of 20mts,25mts and 30mts were conducted for the students of pp section, 50m and
75m for classes 3 & 4,30m & 50m for std 1and 2 boys and girls. The winners were awarded prizes at
the hands of our respected Chairman Mr Jose Manuel Noronha, Director Mrs Mayalin Noronha,
principals Mrs Brenda Bhandary, Mrs Pallavi Buyao , Mrs Maria Norman and honourable trustees Adv
Racheal Vas and Mrs Bharati Marwah Kumar.
Miss Diya Sawal, Our Chess Champion who represented India in Asian Schools Biltz Chess
Championship 2022 and bagged two gold medals, 2 silvers and a bronze medal in individual and team
category, under-9 girls’ category was felicitated by the Chairman Mr Jose Manuel Norohna.
The Chairman and the Director also awarded cadet and mini-cadet trophies to following students for
excellence in various sports events:

‘The Brass Revolution’, played a mellifluous rendition, thus enthralling the audience and the
dignitaries with their tune and superb formations.
The Sports day concluded, on a sweet note by singing the school anthem . Sincere gratitude to all the
staff and support staff for another successful sports day.
